I don't have any presets on my Osmose after trying to update to firmware 2.0

If you don't have any presets on your Osmose after trying to update your firmware to version 2.0, then the update procedure must have failed before OsmoseUpdater had the chance to reach the step "push Osmose factory collection." The most likely cause of this is a loss of USB connection during the update.

Depending on whether you have lost user data along the way, you can choose between two ways to make the update to 2.0 succeed. Both are explained further down in this article.

Option 1.) If you don't have any user data saved, e.g. because your Osmose was in a factory state anyway, or if you don't mind recreating the few user presets manually, you can continue the update process at the stage it likely failed.

Option 2.) If you have lost user presets you would like to restore, it will be best to downgrade to firmware version 1.4.4., see if your user presets are still there, and then do the full update to version 2.0 again.

⚠️ Before you proceed, please ensure that you have taken all important precautions to avoid issues with OsmoseUpdater.

---

Option 1) continue where you left off (not restoring user data)

  1. Launch OsmoseUpdater and enter Advanced Mode by ticking the box in the upper left.
  2. Click "push osmose factory collection" and choose the 2.x *.osmoseupdate file as source. Restart Osmose once the process is completed.
  3. Stay in OsmoseUpdater's Advanced Mode and click "update haken firmware". Select the same *.osmoseupdate file again. Restart Osmose once the process is completed.

Option 2) downgrade to firmware 1.4.4 first (restoring user data)

  1. Downgrade your Osmose to firmware 1.4.4 by following the exact procedure explained here: Osmose Firmware Downgrade 2.x to 1.x
  2. Check if your user presets are still on your Osmose. If they are, you can skip step 3.)
  3. Restore your 1.x user preset backup with the "restore user data" function of OsmoseUpdater's Advanced Mode. The application will ask you for a folder where the backup was saved. You will find the automatic backups in the directories below. They have a time stamp for orientation:
    Windows: C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\OsmoseUpdater
    macOS: …/Users/*yourusername*/Library/Application/Support/OsmoseUpdate
  4. When your Osmose is on a working 1.4.4 version again, containing all the user data you wish to keep, rerun a complete 2.0 upgrade, as explained in the general firmware update instructions.
