When you connect Osmose to your computer, five USB MIDI ports will appear.
⚠️ Make sure you always choose the correct port for the specific task.
Just activating “All MIDI Ins” for a DAW track instead of selecting the port purposefully can quickly lead to unwanted behavior and/or MIDI conflicts.

play port
macOS: ‘Osmose play’ (Port 1) or ‘Osmose 61 play’ (Port 1)
Windows: ‘Osmose’ (Port 1) or ‘Osmose 61’ (Port 1)
Use this port to control any external synth. Sends data according to the configuration chosen in External MIDI Mode or DAW Control mode.

sound engine port
macOS: ‘Osmose sound engine’ (Port 2) or ‘Osmose 61 sound engine’ (Port 2)
Windows: ‘MIDIIN2 (Osmose)’ or ‘MIDIIN2 (Osmose 61)’
Use this port to record performances meant for its internal sound engine in an external sequencer or DAW to replay or edit them. This includes slider, macro and global fx parameter movements. Find the MIDI implementation chart here: Osmose sound engine MIDI implementation chart

din interface port
macOS: ‘Osmose din interface’ (Port 3) or ‘Osmose 61 din interface’ (Port 3)
Windows: ‘MIDIIN3 (Osmose)’ or ‘MIDIIN3 (Osmose 61)’
Use this port when you want to send or receive MIDI messages on Osmose CE’s DIN ports. To activate this port, you need to set the ‘din mode’ in midi i/o tab of global settings to ‘usb interface’.

daw control port
macOS: ‘Osmose daw control’ (Port 4) or ‘Osmose 61 daw control’ (Port 4)
Windows: ‘MIDIIN4 (Osmose)’ or ‘MIDIIN4 (Osmose 61)’
Use this port to establish communication of the DAW protocols that enable DAW Control mode functionality. Don’t try to use it to control any MIDI devices, as it does not send, or receive, MIDI note information.

haken port
macOS: ‘Osmose haken’ (Port 5) or ‘Osmose 61 haken’ (Port 5)
Windows: ‘MIDIIN5 (Osmose)’ or ‘MIDIIN5 (Osmose 61)’
Interfaces directly with the EaganMatrix DSP. Use this port only to make the connection with the Haken Editor. You can activate the Haken Audio port in the global settings -> midi i/o -> haken usb mode. This port was Port #2 on older Osmose firmware versions (until v2.1).
